What's In A Name?

Our English Language Arts (E.L.A.) class began writing in their Writer's Notebooks.  After reading the great picture book, Chrysanthemum by Kevin Henkes, the students wrote about their own names.  The students who did not know what their names mean, are supposed to find out this week and tell the class.

Laura- from the Laurel plant
Rhoda- in Greek, a rose
Winnie- happy, friendly
Shannon- wise one, river name
Sean- God is gracious
Mario- manly and strong
Connor- lover of the hounds
Bryan- strong and honorable
James- supplander
Alexa- defender of mankind
Megan- pearl, self assured and confident

Writing away!
