Students used marbles and rulers to demonstrate how sound waves travel. They placed 5 marbles along the grove of a ruler. They flicked a 6th marbles against the end of the row and observed how the last marble in the row moved. The energy of the first marble transferred through the other marbles to the last one. The activity demonstrated that energy waves travel in one direction.
